but the expressions. It was a lot easier when all we had to do was cry or smile to

| Dad recently walk in with a package of bacon. I asked, "Dad, is this what they mean by 'bringing home the bacon'?" Dad said, " No. That generally refers to money." So, I asked, " So, 'making bacon' means making money?" Dad replied, " Yes and no." I was confused. So, I asked, "What is bacon?" Dad looked at me thoughtfully and said, "Bacon is generally the back or side meat of a hog." I said, "Oh!" And, realizing this was starting to delay breakfast, I gave up and said, " Well, can I just have my cooked hog." Dad smiled and said, "Well, this is actually turkey bacon." I thought, "Oh no, compound figures of speech." |
